Mucha Inspired

There's so many things I like about Alfons Mucha's work. His work is from the late 1800's to early 1900's. I love the free-flowing hair, the movement in his work. The headpieces on the girls remind me of flappers as well as hippies--check out the flowers on the first girl's and the nature and flowers in many of the others. The clothes are so lightweight and breezy.

Very Gypsy-like--and check out the Zodiac

Similar style:: "Ozma of Oz" from the Wizard of Oz books.

Look familiar? Many psychedelic poster of the 1960's gave a nod to the Art Nouveau style.

Here's some things I found that remind me of that style. Gwen's hair totally has that look, and love the colors on her dress.
Goldie Hawn. Got the hair, free curls. Love her light and breezy baby-doll dress with its soft, pastel color, and love the flower-like details on the top. The setting is in the forest..has that nature like Mucha.

I was channeling Mucha on this one. Flowy, light-colored sweater with wide sleeves blues and greens in the floral lace design on the top, gold butterfly necklace..Even the FSU setting reminds me of Mucha..the blue of the fountain, the Tallahassee trees, the old building from the 1900's.

I think it's Kirsten's French-look: her lightweight floral blouse with the scarf, reminds me of Mucha.

More Ideas/Items to Make

Check out the newest Urban Outfitters catalog. I got it out of the mailbox just as my boyfriend and I were leaving for a 2 and a half hour drive to Pensacola. I enjoy the colors and the desert settings. I can't help but think of Bella in Phoenix. There were lots of things in the new catalog that give me inspiration of things to make. Like this necklace.

I love this picture of Edie Sedgewick it reminds me of summer and springtime.

This is a still shot from the movie "Slums of Beverly Hills". I haven't seen it in awhile, so I completely forgot how great the colors and the fashions are. I like this image of Marisa Tomei (the brunette) and what she's wearing. I love the bold colors of orange and pink together. Summery-Spring colors. The fabric looks breezy and cool for these hot, Florida days. I like Natasha Lyonne's printed mini dress as well, and I can remember an amazing pair of massive wedges she wears in the movie.

These are all items I'd like to make:
Green/red dress= cut an ethnic print moo-moo and create a halter dress.
Headband= I have a shirt very similar to the design on the headband. It's gray with faint roses and looks tie-dyed just like the headband. Add some elastic and some beads for some decor. White and red dress= recycle an old tank top + an old dress, skirt, shirt or any piece of fabric, cut and sew together for a new tunic or dress. Explore with different lengths

There's actually an article in one of my old NYLON 's that shows how to do this.

2nd Post, 1st Day, Continuing Spring Ideas

I have this vintage Ralph Lauren silk dress shirt: dark colored with paisley-like designs. I originally found the RL shirt for a costume but continued to like it thereafter. I first found the Lauren Conrad picture, then the Vanessa Hudgens; the LC picture inspired me to wear the shirt again. I even bought a black hat similar in shape to hers. I can even picture the perfect wedges of mine to wear with the outfit, alas, I never wear heels. I'm never comfortable enough.

Beyond fucking simple. Beyond effortless. I love this girl.
I love this magazine/website at the moment too...http://www.realsimple.com/
Thanks for the issues, ma.

I'm loving Rachel Bilson's style. Today I'm wearing a dress similar to the white one she's wearing here. I'd like to find a shrunken blazer though; I'll take one in black or navy.
Everytime I go thrifting I look for them. I jobless at the moment, otherwise I might spend 80 bucks on one. Also, a cropped leather jacket would be nice. I found one at the Goodwill that was the perfect fit, yet I couldn't bring myself to spend $50 on it at Goodfreakingwill. Now I kick myself for leaving it that day.

Good ole Urban Renewal. Too bad I can't make this for myself...a la Rachel Renewal...riiight...

My boyfriend thinks I should get a bob. I would love the change, but I've never had short hair. I don't want to regret it. I also wouldn't want to look like I had helmet hair. I also wouldn't wanna straighten my hair every day. I'd rather go with my natual texture. But they're soo cute. I love the top image a lot. She's like a little french girl. I love that look. Here's pretty much what my hair looks like currently...

1st Post::Spring Ideas

I have so many ideas on my mind to get this started for my first post. I'm still figuring out how to use this blog, and figuring out how I'd like to organize it.We'll see how it goes...
Alright, so this is a "mood board" I made for a project for my visual design class. It's full of images I was digging at the time. Images for inspiration.

These are some images I have been collecting for Spring Clothing and Fashion ideas.

This picture of Sienna Miller was an image I saved when making the mood board and it goes along with that same sort of theme. I think I'll try to make a necklace similar to hers.

I am in love with scarves. I have so many of them. Some designer finds from thrift stores, vintage "scarves by Vera" (and that's not Wang), and when my grandmother passed I got to keep many of hers. I always want to wear mine, add them to an outfit. I've found a few sites that teach you different ways to tie them/wear them. http://www.tasaram.com/tying-head.html http://www.texeresilk.com/cms-scarf_tying_guide.html Vanessa Hudgen's is so effortless, I love how she wears it.

I'm a major thrift store shopper, and these would be some great finds. I love the idea of recycling clothes instead of adding to the growing waste. One girls trash is another girls....yeah, you know. That's definitely something that I keep in mind when thinking about my future in fashion. I love Urban Outfitter's Urban Renewal for the same reasons. I have a book that has 99 ways to cut your t-shirt and sew it into something else. I love DIY stuff. Reuse your things before you just toss 'em. I don't think these skirts work well for my body type, but I still love the styles.
